Clinton announces plan to cover the uninsured
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton is issuing a new call for universal health care.
The Democratic presidential hopeful says all Americans should be required to have health insurance, either through their employers or a government-run pool. She says the wealthy should pay higher taxes to help defray the cost.
The plan comes with a 110 billion dollar a year price tag, and was revealed after several Democratic rivals had already described their visions.
Clinton says the United States spends more than any other country on health care, yet ranks 31st in life expectancy and 40th in child mortality.
