Clinton, Obama campaigns clash over debate exchange on diplomacy
CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — A post-debate clash has broken out between the rival camps of Senators Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama.
The two Democratic presidential candidates are clashing over the meaning of Obama's claim in a Democratic presidential debate that he'd be willing to meet with leaders of rogue nations such as Cuba, North Korea and Iran.
Clinton said during the debate that she would not meet with them.
Her supporters characterized Obama's comment as a gaffe that underscored the freshman senator's lack of foreign-policy savvy.
Obama's team claims his response displayed judgment and a repudiation of President Bush's diplomacy.
