Closing arguments set for murder trial of Cary man

RALEIGH, NC (AP) – Defense attorneys and prosecutors are
scheduled to begin closing arguments after eight weeks of testimony
in the trial of a Cary man accused in the 2008 death of his wife.

The defense will sum up its case for 37-year-old Bradley Cooper
Tuesday morning before prosecutors present their statement. Judge
Paul Gessner has ruled that each side must limit its closing
arguments to two hours.

Cooper is charged with murder in the death of his wife, Nancy,
who disappeared on July 12, 2008. Her body was found two days later
at a construction site.

The jury could find Cooper guilty of first-degree murder,
second-degree murder, or not guilty.

The state is not seeking the death penalty.
