Coast Guard finds boater’s body in Albemarle Sound
EDENTON, N.C. (AP) – The U.S. Coast Guard has recovered a body believed to be that of a missing boater from Albemarle Sound.
A statement from the Coast Guard said a Hertford County side scan sonar team located the man’s body Monday and a Perquimans County dive team recovered him.
The man’s identity hasn’t been released.
A motorist driving on the NC Highway 32 bridge told the Coast Guard late Sunday morning that they saw a person fall overboard from a 39-foot boat about a quarter-mile offshore. Another person found the boat with just a dog aboard.
