Coast Guard rescues boaters in New River Inlet

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) – The Coast Guard rescued four men from a boat in New River Inlet over the weekend.

According to a news release, authorities in Wilmington were notified that a 27-foot boat ran aground and was taking on water near New River Inlet around 5:00 p.m. Sunday.

An MH-60 helicopter crew arrived on scene around 7:00 p.m.

The Coast Guard says one passenger began having chest pains while Coast Guard crews were on the way.

The four men were taken to Marine Corps Air Station New River in Jacksonville where an EMS crew was waiting.
