OAK ISLAND, NC (WWAY) — The Coast Guard rescued a man and woman Friday south of Fort Fisher Ferry Terminal.

According to a press release, watchstanders at Coast Guard Station in Oak Island received a report at 3:45 p.m. Friday where they found two stranded on a jetty.

Officials says a boat crew arrived on scene at 4:15 p.m. and rescued the two individuals.

The woman suffered minor cuts on her feet and the man was in good condition.

“Thankfully we received the call in time to remove the two people from the jetty,” said Petty Officer 2nd Class Hayden O’Neil, the coxswain from Station Oak Island who responded to the case. “With the tide coming in and the temperature falling, we were glad to get them back safely to shore.”
