Coastal Christian High School packs thousands of meals for kids in Haiti

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — On Saturday one high school came together to package thousands of meals for a village in Haiti.

Coastal Christian High School partnered with Hope Changes Everything, a nonprofit organization that provides education, clean water and meals to children in Haiti.

The volunteers who came out this weekend packaged 55,000 meals to help feed starving children. One of the organizers said she is happy to be making a difference.

“After we started the program of educating the children and went to visit the schools, we saw that the children had nothing to eat and I’m an educator, I teach here at Coastal. I have taught all my life and you can’t teach a child who is hungry,” Hope Changes Everything Founder Renee Hunter said.

The meals will be feeding kids in schools five days a week. Hunter said the program started five years ago and hopes it continues to grow.
