KURE BEACH, NC (StarNewsOnline.com) — A military recreation area on Pleasure Island is replacing aging military base-style housing with modern coastal cottages.
As part of the plans, the number of rental units in cottages at the Fort Fisher Air Force Recreation Area will double.
In the first phase now underway, crews are building cottages that will hold 36 units. They will replace 18 houses that were previously demolished.
