Columbus Co. animal shelter gets temporary AC units
WHITEVILLE, NC (WWAY/PRESS RELEASE) — Columbus County Animal Shelter manager Joey Prince says the maintenance department “worked above the call of duty over the last few days in the heat to construct a wall and install temporary Air Conditioning for the animals”.
Prince says as of noon, Thursday, the temperature was a “cool 73″, and within the state mandated temperatures all day. He says that if these units not be able to continue to keep up with the heat, the wall has been constructed to allow the addition of additional units.
In addition, Prince says an engineer was on site completing a final few measurements for the presentation of the permanent solution for the shelter environment to contractors. He anticipates the bid packages on the solution being mailed early next week and a meeting with all interested contractors sometime Friday.
Finally, Prince said via press release that until the current heat wave is over, shelter staff are working extra shifts to ensure all AC units are operating to keep the temperature within limits of the animals of the shelter safe.
