Columbus Co. commissioners want to name overpass after fallen trooper

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A long lasting memorial to honor a trooper shot and killed in the line of duty in Columbus County.

Columbus County Commissioner Edwin Russ will take the first step Monday night toward getting an overpass named in honor of Trooper Kevin Conner.

He’s asking the board to adopt a resolution requesting the NCDOT to name the US 74 and Highway 242 overpass after the fallen trooper.

Conner was shot and killed October 17 during a traffic stop.

Raheem Davis and Chauncy Askew are charged with his murder.
