Columbus Co. inmate accused of trying to kill corrections officer
COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — An inmate at the Columbus Correctional Institution is accused of trying to kill a corrections officer. Now he’s charged with attempted murder.
The District Attorney’s Office says a Grand Jury indicted Keenan Lynard Jones, 24, on Wednesday. Investigators say he attacked Ricky Dale Graham on August 3.
The Grand Jury indicted Jones for attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, and possession of a dangerous weapon in prison.
The SBI and Columbus County Sheriff’s Department investigated.
Jones was in prison for failing to register as a sex offender, according to the Department of Public Safety. He was previously convicted of indecent liberties with a child.
