Columbus Co. man charged with human trafficking


COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Deputies with the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office said a man is behind bars after a three-month-long human trafficking and drug investigation.

Deputies said Larry Daniel Moore of Whiteville recruited and harbored individuals for sexual servitude and was responsible for the sale and distribution of cocaine and other drugs in the county. They said he wouldn’t let the victims leave and gave the victims narcotics. A spokeswoman said there were multiple victims but could not disclose more information, as she said the investigation continues.

Moore is facing charges including human trafficking, aiding and abetting prostitution, sexual servitude, felony possession of cocaine and several other charges. He’s in jail under more than a $500,000 bond.
