Columbus Co. man faces 12 years in prison
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — New Hanover District Attorney says two armed robberies in one night have landed a Columbus County man in prison for up to 12 years.
Jonathan Jenrette, 31, of Whiteville pleaded guilty on Thursday to one count of conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
According to Wilmington Police they received a call from a victim late on April 20 saying they had been robbed in the 1200 block of S. 6th Street. The suspects got away with his iPod and cell phone.
Police say four hours later they received another call. The victim said he had been robbed at gun point by two black males while sitting outside his apartment on South 3rd Street. According to police he said that the suspects forced him into his apartment to get more money, taking $325 in cash and a cell phone.
According to police, both victims were able to give them a description of the suspects and the vehicle they were driving.
Wilmington Police say they found Jenrette, along with Jamall Johnson and Adrian Womble, in the car at the America Best Value Inn on Market Street. Officers later found a bag in the bushes nearby with the cash and a handgun inside.
The cases against Johnson and Womble are still pending.
