Columbus Co. Sheriff’s Office investigating catalytic converter thefts

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office is hoping surveillance images will help them track down the person or persons behind several catalytic converter thefts.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, approximately 20 catalytic converters have been stolen since early June on Border Belt Drive, near Whiteville.
Most of the converters stolen have been from vehicles belonging to the Border Belt Tobacco Research Station and The N.C. Department of Agriculture’s Whiteville office, which are both on Border Belt Drive.
The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information about the vehicle shown in the surveillance image, or its driver, to contact them.
