Columbus County drug investigation yields four arrests
COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Four people are behind bars after a jointed narcotics investigation with the Bladen and Columbus County Sheriff’s Offices.
A spokewoman with the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office says “this investigation originated from information gathered from concerned citizens, which prompted Columbus County Sheriff’s Office and Bladen County Sheriff’s Office to initiate an investigation. During the investigation, it was determined that the defendants were responsible for distributing narcotics throughout both Columbus and Bladen County. On March 11, 2016, search warrants were simultaneously executed at three separate locations. During the operation, narcotics were seized, along with stolen weapons and other stolen items. Four defendants were arrested.”
59-year-old Eddie Hayes of Bolton has been charged with one count of Possession with Intent to Sell/Deliver Cocaine and one count of Maintaining a Dwelling to Keep a Controlled Substance. He is being held in the Columbus County Detention Center under a $30,000.00 secured bond.
47-year-old Belinda Marie Waddell of Bolton is charged with two counts of IV-D Non-Support Child. She is being held in the Columbus County Detention Center under a $16,050.00 secured bond.
21-year-old Sonova Shariff Bryant of Riegelwood is charged with one count of Possession with Intent to Sell/Deliver Marijuana and two counts of Trafficking in Cocaine. She is being held in the Bladen County Detention Center under a $30,000.00 secured.
33-year-old Freddie Andre Lacewell of Elizabethtown is charged with two counts of Trafficking in Cocaine, one count of Possession of Firearm by Felon, one count of Possession of a Stolen Firearm, one count of Possession with Intent to Sell/Deliver Marijuana, one count of Maintaining a Vehicle/Dwelling/Place to Keep a Controlled Substance, and one count of Manufacturing Marijuana. He is being held in the Bladen County Detention Center under a $1,000,000.00 secured bond.
