Columbus County Fair hopes to open Wednesday

WHITEVILLE, NC (WWAY) — A lot of people in Columbus County could use a distraction from all the problems there this week. That distraction could come tomorrow, which is a day later than planned.

The Columbus County Fair was supposed to open this afternoon, but there’s still no power at the fairgrounds near Whiteville. Fair organizers say that should change this afternoon, which would let them open tomorrow.

In the meantime, the flooding in the area led organizers to cancel the annual Fair Parade and Special Friends Day.

The fair is scheduled to run through Sunday.
