Columbus County murder trial begins

COLUMBUS COUNTY — The trial of a Columbus County man accused of murder began Monday.

Ramel Troy faces first-degree murder charges in the death of Chase Powell in 2002.

Prosecutor Lee Bollinger says it took almost two weeks to select a jury because families of both the victim and defendant have so many ties in the community.
