Comedy festival to deliver laughs this weekend
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A weekend that will tickle your funny bone, the Cape Fear Comedy festival kicks off Wednesday, and it’s sure to be a riot.
Six years and going strong, the festival promises to be bigger and better this year, and with an added location, organizers say that means more reasons to laugh.
Some of the comedians are just starting out.
“The first time I did it I got no laughs whatsoever, but I got off stage, and I was like, ‘I can’t let that be the last time I do stand-up. I’ve got to try to do better,’” Tyler Wood said.
Some though have been doing it a while.
“It’s been my main source of income for about five (years), and it is my only job right now,” Emmett Montgomery said being funny and dead serious. “Am I in the danger zone now?”
There are dozens of comics in town this weekend for a weekend of comedy. Timmy Sherrill puts on the festival. He says audiences in Wilmington make it great.
“They’ll take that train ride with you as long as you bring them back to the station at the end of the show,” Sherrill said.
A mix, they hope, of awesome talent and a few good laughs.
