Community honors former councilwoman
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Community members gathered today to honor former Wilmington City Councilwoman Pat Delair who passed away May.
Delair served on the council from 2006 to 2007 and was a businesswoman and environmental advocate in the community. She passed away after a long fight with ovarian cancer.
Today, friends and family gathered at City Hall to celebrate her life and to remember her fighting and inviting spirit. Yndiana Montes met Delair through a non-profit that focuses on health and environmental advocacy.
“When I came here six years ago, I met her at one of her meetings for Earth Savers, and I just felt that I found a friend,” said Montes.
Mayor Bill Saffo and other city officials gave remarks at the service.
