Community joins in third annual Women’s March on Wilmington
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Women Organizing for Wilmington, or “WOW” held its third annual Women’s March and Rally in downtown Wilmington Saturday.
Attendees marched down Princess Street at 11:45 a.m. and rallied at the steps of the federal courthouse until 5 p.m. The march was followed by an after party at Bottega with live music and catering.
The mission of the women’s march and rally is to keep progressing towards equality.
“Every year we come together to remind our elected officials that we’re not done. We’re still fighting for equality. We’re fighting for equal pay, for the same job qualifications. We’re fighting for reproductive health rights and affordable healthcare and to save Mother Earth,” said Lynn Shoemaker, the Founder of WOW.
Shoemaker explained that plenty of progress has been made, but there is plenty more to be accomplished.
