Community policing in action tonight in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A community meeting tonight for folks to ask questions to officers in their community but did they get answers? For most the answer seemed to be yes.

Folks had questions about neighborhood crime and about traffic in their neighborhood.

Officers and City of Wilmington officials were on hand to answer those questions too.

It’s a part of the police department’s effort to engage citizens through community policing.

Some folks say that’s the right way to do it.

“It is important for the community to work with the police department,” said Bishop Reddgo Long, who attended the event, “I just think that is very, very important and that is high up on my list.”

These meetings are going to be held quarterly and the next one scheduled for February.
