Company to lay off nearly 100 at Wilmington plant

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Mundy Maintenance, Services and Operations, LLC plans to layoff 97 workers in Wilmington according to a letter the company sent to Mayor Bill Saffo.

The letter says the layoffs will happen at 4600 Hwy. 421 North. That’s the address for Invista, which has announced dozens of layoffs of its own the last few years amid production cutbacks.

Mundy says its workers will be terminated “on or about December 15.”

The StarNews reported last year that a similar number from Mundy to state officials announced the layoff of 40 contract workers at the Invista plant.
