Confusion over re-zoning at Battle Park

There is a bit of confusion over a re-zoning request for a parcel of land at Battle Park.

A small sign recently appeared near the corner of Carolina Beach Road and Manassas Drive in New Hanover County, letting people know about a rezoning meeting on July 3.

This raised some eyebrows of area residents.

Back in April, a 42-acre parcel of land was the subject of controversy, when the county considered selling it to a developer.

The developer pulled out after neighbors protested.

Things are different this time. The land in question is two privately owned lots, totaling less than an acre.

The owner wants to zone it commercially, and put a veterinary office there.

Again that zoning meeting takes place July 3.
