Congressman’s father dies at 87

LUMBERTON, NC (WWAY) — Dr. Douglas Carmichael Mcintyre, the father of Rep. Mike McIntyre, died this morning in Lumberton. He was 87.

In a statement, the Congressman said, “Dad has now gone home to be with his beloved Lord, and we know that he is resting peacefully. We will miss him a lot, but he will never be forgotten.”

As a result of his father’s death, Mcintyre has canceled his “Conversations with the Congressman” scheduled for Monday in Columbus County.
