Cops: Son shoots father after being threatened with chainsaw

ALBEMARLE, NC (AP) — Authorities say an Albemarle man shot and killed his father after being threatened with a chainsaw.

Local media outlets report that deputies responded to a shooting call at a home at around 1:15 a.m. Sunday. There they found 57-year-old Stanley Harwood on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds.

Deputies say Harwood had been in a fight with his son, 20-year-old Seth Harwood.

Stanly County Sheriff George Burris says the father grabbed a chainsaw and started it, then his son grabbed a gun and shot him.

Burris says deputies are still investigating. No charges have been issued.
