Councilman files motion in suit against WHA

Wilmington City Councilman Ron Sparks has filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit filed against him by the Wilmington Housing Authority. The motion alleges that the WHA’s comments to the media have made it impossible for Sparks to get a fair trial. If the claim is not dismissed, Sparks’s attorney is asking to move the case to a special business court.

This all stems from WHA’s purchase of Eastbrook Spartments in 2005. Sparks was hired to inspect the apartments and recommended the Housing Authority buy the property. But problems with mold forced the Housing Authority to evacuate Eastbrook, which still sits empty.
