Crash involving Wilmington Police officer shuts down lane on College Road

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington Police officer and another driver were taken to the hospital late Wednesday afternoon after a crash near a busy intersection.

It happened just after 4 p.m. at the intersection of 17th Street and S. College Road. A northbound lane of College was closed after the crash.

A WPD spokeswoman said the officer who was running blue lights and siren while responding to a breaking and entering in progress when the crash happened. Police are investigating.

WPD says both drivers are in stable condition
