Crew of US Coast Guard Cutter Diligence celebrates 50 years of service

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — After a 45-day patrol and a weekend full of tours and celebrations, the crew of the US Coast Guard Cutter Diligence held a formal ceremony celebrating 50 years of service on the Wilmington riverfront.

The event, held Tuesday afternoon at the Coast Guard moorings downtown, was open to the public and featured speakers like U.S. Rep. Mike McIntyre.

The Diligence is a 210-foot medium endurance cutter has called Wilmington home since 1992. The cutter has a crew of approximately 75.
