UPDATE: Arrest made in Leland house fire
LELAND, NC (WWAY) — Leland police say a person is in jail charged with first degree arson in a house fire Saturday night.
Brunswick County Fire Marshal Scott Garner said it happened at 1110 Cresthill Court. That’s in Brunswick Forest.
Garner said initial reports from callers made the fire sound suspicious, but an investigation had not yet begun, and it would be too early to say what happened. He also said his office had not yet been officially asked to help with the investigation.
Lieutenant Jeremy Humphries with the Leland Police Department said officers arrested William James Kelim II, 34, at the scene Saturday. Kelim is charged with first degree arson, breaking and entering, and communicating threats.
He is being held under a $100,000 secured bond.
