Crews respond to forest fire in Winnabow area

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Brunswick County officials said emergency crews are responding to an active forest fire in the area of Funston Road and Old Mill Creek in Winnabow.

Officials are asking residents to use caution if you are traveling nearby, and avoid the area if possible so fire personnel and first responders can work safely.

Officials added that smoke may impact visibility, and conditions can change quickly.

Brunswick County said this is an evolving event and conditions are subject to change.
