Crews respond to gas leak in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Wilmington Fire Department says crews from Piedmont Gas have repaired a gas leak on Colwell Ave. WFD crews evacuated nearby homes and businesses, but everyone has now been allowed to return home.

A WFD spokesman says the broken six-inch line was across from 1934 Colwell Ave. beside Vesta Village Apts. The break was caused by a dump truck that ran over the shallow hole.
