Crews respond to house fire

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Multiple crews responded to a fire that left a house destroyed Friday night.

Deputy Chief Don Herzig with Northwest Volunteer Fire Department said the fire happened around 9:30 p.m. on Stillys Avenue in Leland.

Herzig said the owner of the home was not there when the fire happened, but the house is a total loss. He added that the owner’s insurance company will be investigating the cause.

According to Herzig, the Red Cross is helping the owner at this time.

Fire crews from Northwest, Leland, Navassa, and ADR responded to the scene.
