Crisis Center to remain closed for now

Southeastern’s board met last night and decided on a course of action now that the crisis station and detox center has been cleared to reopen.

The state in effect shut them down in May after finding a number of problems.

The problems have been fixed to the state’s satisfaction, but only the detox center will open anytime soon. It may re-open in early July.

The Crisis Center will remain closed, however, as officials negotiate with New Hanover Regional Medical Center about taking over the program, which is the equivalent of an ER for psychiatric patients.
