DA to seek death penalty in Bradley trial
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — District Attorney Ben David said James Bradley was indicted on December 5 2016 for the murder of Elisha Tucker.
He is also charged with the murder of Shannon Rippy VanNewkirk.
Last month, a grand jury indicted Bradley in the death of Tucker, the woman whose body was found while investigators were searching for VanNewkirk.
In court, the DA also questioned why Bradley’s capital defender has dropped the case and claims it is a step to delay the trial.
The DA said the state is intending to present at least one aggravating factor at the trial. The state also brought up the Bradley had been tried and convicted for the death of a child. He was released in 2013 after serving 25 years for that crime.
