Dachshund survives after being trapped in house by flooding for days

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — We have an update to a flooding story near Currie last week.

Brian Mott said water started coming into their first floor when the bridges on NC 210 started to flood Wednesday. That is when he said they started moving things up to the second floor including their dachshund Penelope and bulldog Enzo.

Mott said they left the house for a little while and tried to come back, but could not get past the flooded bridge. He said he was hoping a rescue crew would go in and get them.

Mott said they were finally able to get back to their house by boat on Saturday.

Mott was happy to report Penelope is doing okay, but heart broken to find his bulldog Enzo did not survive.
