Dad of missing teen Natalee Holloway says he may have found her remains in Aruba

The father of Natalee Holloway, the American teen who disappeared in Aruba back in 2005, said Wednesday that he and a private investigator found human remains in Aruba that may be his daughter’s body.

Discovered within a local home, they are now being DNA-tested to reveal their owner.

The tests could take as long as a month, Fox reports.

Natalee went missing at the age of 18 in 2005, during a high school graduation trip to the island.

Officials have yet to charge a suspect in the Alabama teen’s disappearance.

Joran van der Sloot, a Dutch man the teen was last seen with outside a bar, is serving a 28-year sentence in a Peru jail for murdering student Stephany Flores, Fox reports.

That crime occurred five years to the day after Natalee’s disappearance.

A former roommate of a friend of van der Sloot’s gave Natalee’s dad a tip which led to the remains, he said on the “Today” show.

“[He] had information that took us to a spot where remains were found. And we took those remains and had those remains tested,” Holloway said on “Today.” “We’ve chased a lot of leads and this one is by far the most credible lead I’ve seen in the last 12 years.”

A new series centering on Natalee’s disappearance will premiere this weekend on the Oxygen network.
