Dance instructor faces additional sex crime charges

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A former New Hanover County dance instructor charged with child sex crimes now faces even more charges in Pender County.
Elissa Edwards, 41, now faces statutory rape of child and indecent liberties with a child charges in Pender County.
Edwards is being held under a $200,ooo bond in that case.
She appeared in court on Friday in New Hanover County, where she is also charged with indecent liberties with a minor and statutory rape.
The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office said they victims were students from dance studios across the state and in New Hanover County.
