Dangerous Dog Appeals Court – Pit Bull Found Not Guilty

Dog court is no laughing matter. It’s serious business. The court has three volunteer panelists. They act as the jury, or you could say they’re dog court judges. Our featured case involves a pit bull named Kash. The 14 month old neutered male was involved in an off-property incident where he terrorized Janice Barfield who told the court “I was really frightened, but she got inside in time and I closed the door. He stood outside and he wouldn’t go.”

Two months ago Kash was found to be potentially dangerous. Kash’s owner, Maggie Saunders, appealed the decision. That’s how she ended up in dog court Wednesday night. Kash is currently attending dog school. He was found not guilty of being a dangerous dog by the panel. Panelist John Boozer said: ” I don’t think it’s a dangerous dog because if it were really a dangerous dog it would have attacked Mrs. Barfield or the secretary and maybe knocked you down or mauled you if it were really dangerous.”

The panelists ruled the case to be an isolated incident and a containment issue.
