Dark streets worry business owners downtown
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Some downtown business owners are concerned that the lights on side streets are not as bright as on Front Street. They think that dark streets keep people from visiting the shops, restaurants and other businesses that are not on the main drag.
The owner of Coastal Cupcakes on Princess Street, Kristen Spetrino, said that several business on the 100 block of the street have banded together to do everything they can to lighten up the street, but it’s just not enough. Spetrino said that she hopes they can get other businesses on other side streets to join them before they go to the city asking for better lighting.
Spetrino said that she thinks a brighter street will encourage people to explore all of downtown, and realize that it really is much larger than just one street.
