Death Expo tackles difficult subject matter
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A death planning expo was held Sunday at at the UNCW Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
The event was held by the Funeral Consumer’s Alliance, an independent, non-profit, national organization dedicated to providing information and resources to people exploring their options for final arrangements. The goal of the event was to ensure consumers are fully prepared and protected when planning a funeral for themselves or loved ones.
There were a variety of funeral experts in attendance to talk about everything from flower arrangements to writing wills.
Ken Stewart, a man who attended, said he thinks planning is important not just for yourself, but for those left behind.
“Death is inevitable. It’s the one thing we all have in common, and it’s kind of weird nobody wants to talk about it, but it’s coming.”
Event organizers say they were pleased with the crowd and think that it is important that people plan sooner rather than later.
