Carolina Beach man in custody after stabbing death
40-year-old James Arthur Johnson is being held in the New Hanover County jail with no bond

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Patrol Officers with the Carolina Beach Police Department were dispatched to 625 Spencer Farlow Dr., Unit 23 regarding a “person down” call for service. Upon arrival, Patrol Officers observed a subject deceased with apparent stab wound injuries.
The investigation revealed a suspect description, last seen leaving the area. Patrol Officers located the suspect, now known as James Arthur Johnson, a 40-year-old male from Laurinburg, N.C. Johnson was placed under arrest for the murder of the victim. The investigation is on-going, and more information will be released as it becomes available and next of kin has been notified.
Johnson was taken in front of a New Hanover County Magistrate, was charged with 2nd Degree Murder and placed on a No-Bond hold. Johnson is confined in the New Hanover County Jail awaiting a first appearance.
