Delivery drivers robbed, police search for suspects
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) – In two separate incidents, delivery drivers were robbed overnight in Wilmington.
Police say the first armed robbery happened at 10:42 p.m.
A Chopstix delivery driver went to deliver food to the Glen Apartments. When he got out of the car, a woman with her face covered came out of the wooded area with a gun and took the driver’s cash and food. Police say the woman told the driver to get on the ground. She then searched the delivery driver’s car for more money and took off.
“A couple weeks ago we had somebody pay us with a fake hundred dollar bill that said motion pictures on it. And it’s the same girl that I guess robbed our driver at gunpoint,” said Brianna Becker a manager at Chopstix. He’s fine. I mean anybody’s going to be shaken up when they got robbed at gun point but I mean he’ll be fine.”
Then, just over four hours later, at 3:08 a.m., a Domino’s delivery driver went to 4220 Wilshire Boulevard to deliver pizza. As he walked up, a man came from around the corner of the building with a gun. He demanded the driver get on the ground. Police say the man took money from the driver, then went to the driver’s car to look for more money and a cell phone but didn’t find either. Police say the man went back to the driver, took his pizza bag, then ran off.
No word on how much cash was taken.
Police say they are looking into the possibility the robberies may be related but they can not confirm it at this time.
