Deputies: Convicted felon wanted after shooting brother-in-law
BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Bladen County Sheriff deputies are searching for an armed felon who they say committed a serious assault in the Buckhead community on New Year’s Eve.
Jesse James Arp is wanted for the assault of his brother-in-law, Michael Powers, who he shot in the foot with a shotgun during an altercation on Jacobs Loop Road on December 31.
Sheriff James A. McVicker said Arp is a convicted felon and in addition to the most recent charges against him of Assault With a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury and Possession of a Firearm By a Convicted Felon, Arp has other outstanding warrants for his arrest for probation violation and failure to appear in court.
McVickers said Powers has had to undergo extensive surgery to repair his foot.
If you know Arp and his whereabouts, you are asked to call the Sheriff’s Office non-emergency number at 910-862-8141.
Deputies say Arp is considered armed and dangerous and citizens should not approach or attempt to detain him but instead to call law enforcement immediately.
