Deputies looking for man in fake traffic stop incident

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Deputies with the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office are looking for a man who pulled over someone with his civilian car, complete with mounted blue lights.

Deputies said it happened around 1 a.m. in the area of Cathay and River roads. They said a man in a white Nissan Altima or Maxima pulled over a driver. Deputies said the driver even had blue lights mounted near the rear view mirror. The suspect then asked to see the victim’s license and registration, but the victim called 911. At that time, the driver of the Nissan drove off.
