Deputies: Man holds up gas station clerk at gunpoint

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Deputies need the community’s help in locating the suspect they said held up a gas station employee at gunpoint.

It happened at the Handee Hugo located on 820 North College Road at 5:40 a.m. Investigators said a man entered the business, brandished a pistol and a small knife and demanded the employee to empty the register.

The suspect is described as a white male with blue eyes and a tattoo or scar on his right hand between his thumb and index finger wearing a dark blue hoodie, light blue jeans, and a black t-shirt around his face.

A separate witness reported seeing a suspicious Chevrolet Z71 extended cab pick-up truck on Shelley Dr. at the time of the robbery. He described the truck as possibly a 2005 model, squared front, black or dark in color.
