Deputies: Man with knife rang doorbell at home, demanded money

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Deputies are searching for a man who they say had a knife when he walked up to the front door of a home in New Hanover County and demanded money.

Lt. Jerry Brewer with the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office says it happened around 5:30 p.m. in Crestwood Estates.

That’s where Lt. Brewer says the man with a knife rang the doorbell at a home, pushed his way through the front door and asked people inside for money.

Brewer says people in the home gave the man the money in their pockets before the man ran off. He says no one was hurt.
