Deputies search for suspects after attempted break-in

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — An attempted break-in at a Burgaw home sent the SABLE helicopter in the sky and deputies searching for suspects who they say ran into a wooded area.

Pender County sheriff’s deputies say just before 1 a.m., two men tried to break into a home at 537 Green Acres Drive. That’s where deputies say residents were inside at the time, which they think scared the suspects off.

Deputies say the two men took off running into a wooded area near Highway 210. They say SABLE was called in to search the area, while K-9 units tried to track the suspects from the ground. Deputies say they were unable to find the men.

The Pender County Sheriff’s Office is investigating, but deputies say the victims were unable to give a good description of the suspects.
