Deputies: Whiteville man charged with abusing two children

WHITEVILLE, NC (WWAY) — A Columbus County man is accused of abusing two children.

On February 7, a woman contacted the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office to report child abuse. The woman told deputies that she had picked up the child following an extended visit with 29-year-old Kyle Page Lerwill Lewis and saw bruises on a 7 year old.

“The child had bruising around the neck, and on the back, stomach, and chest,” a news release states.

Lewis, of Whiteville, reportedly grabbed the child around the neck until the child could no longer breath, struck the child multiple times, and forced food in the child’s mouth, while covering the child’s mouth and nose.

CCSO says a 9 year old also sustained injuries by Lewis.

“The child was found with bruising and marks about the body,” the release states. “The incidents occurred during the timeframe of December 25, 2020 through February 6, 2021.”

On March 24, Lewis was arrested and charged with three misdemeanor counts of child abuse.

He received a $7,500 secured bond.
