Brewer said they were called to the area earlier in the day due to a domestic dispute. Villanueva’s boyfriend, Brett Kozlowski, was arrested and later bonded out, Brewer said. He went on to say deputies escorted him to the home to pick up his things and they left. It was after that, later in the day, when they got a call about animal cruelty. Brewer said when deputies arrived, a person told them a woman was inside killing a dog. Brewer said they found Villanueva with Kozlowski’s English Bulldog. The dog was stabbed and its throat was cut, and Brewer said Villanueva was trying to suffocate it. At that time

After she was detained, Brewer said deputies received another call from the home. This time it was the couple’s roommate who said he found his female Pit Bull in the creek behind their house. Brewer said Villanueva stabbed that dog more than 100 times, wrapped it up in a blanket and tossed it into the creek.

There’s no word on why the dogs were targeted in the attack, Brewer said.
