Despite cease fire, more shots in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Just hours after area clergy joined police to call for a cease fire of gun violence in Wilmington, more shots were fired in the Port City.

WPD spokeswoman Linda Rawley says the city’s ShotSpotter system picked up eight shots in the 900 block of Greenfield Street around 7:15 last night.

Investigators say the shooting involved people in two cars shooting at each other. Witnesses say they saw a charcoal colored Mazda or Nissan car in the shooting.

Police say they are receiving tips from the community, but they have not made any arrests in the case.
